Gas Powered Leaf Blowers Or Electric Powered Leaf Blowers So Many Decisions

If you are a home owner and have spent any time mowing your own lawn and cleaning your own front yard then you know how darn difficult it can be to rake up all those leaves, scoop them into the yard trash can and also sweep an entire front driveway, back patio and all adjoining walkways.  Honestly coming from someone who does his own lawn this can be real backbreaking work.  That’s right I am not talking to those of you that pay to have your lawns done because you have no idea the amount of work and time it can take to keep your lawn up.  However, if you are a true DIYer at heart and you are one of the few left these days that mow their own lawn and take care of their own garden then you know exactly what I am talking about.  It is real back breaking work and it can be so downright trying that you just want to give up and pay someone to do the work for you.  However, don’t give up my friend instead spend a little bit of the money you are saving by doing the work yourself in a leaf blower.  It will make the entire job go much faster.  The only decision you should be considering is not if you should get a leaf blower but instead which one.  Should you get an electric hand held leaf blower or go for the gas powered leaf blower.

More On Gas Powered Leaf Blowers

History

Leaf blowers came on to the market back in the 1970’s.  Back then they were super huge machines that almost always were gas powered and they needed a full backpack and two stroke engine to make them run.  Over time gas powered mowers have slimed down, lightened up and become more powerful all at the same time.  Also there are now electric powered mowers.

Gas Or Electric Powers Blowers

This really comes down to only about one issue.  Essential most lawn care experts suggest that you get an electric powered leaf blower.  They require a lot less maintenance; they are lighter and produce less noise.  They are also less expensive and an overall economically sound buy.  However, for those of you out there with a big yard or a situation where you cannot reach an electric outlet for a span of over 100 feet then you will probably need the gas powered mower.  If you have a large sized lot and do not have an electrical outlet then you should definitely consider buying a gas powered leaf blower.

How To Choose: Options

Once you get into your local home improvement store you will be faced with a ton of options and choosing the right leaf blower can quickly become overwhelming.  It is best to make a plan ahead of time at home and assess your needs.  Think about how you will be using the leaf blower and what options you would like to have.  Two options that can really help improve the performance and usefulness of your leaf blower are a variable speed and a reverse motor.  The variable speed is very useful if you are planning on using your blower in garden flower beds.  By clicking the speed down to a lower rate of output you will save your flowers and plants in the long run so it is a nice feature to have.  Also by making sure your blower can also work in reverse you can easily suck up or vacuum up the leaves and grass clippings into a handy bag.  This feature can really makes the leaf blower a useful garden tool and completely eliminate the need for a broom and dust pan or rake.

By assessing your needs before going to the store and making some important decisions about the type of blower you are looking for can make your buying and leaf blowing experience much more enjoyable.
