Not sure if you would ever come back here to check but at any rate here goes nothing.
First I would say that hte tattoo should come from you. It should besomething that is meaningful and improtant in your life. If you are not sure what to get that is a good sign that you should wait. Doesn't mean don't ever get one but don't jump to getting one based on someones suggestions. If I were you I would take a paper and pencil and start writing or sketching some ideas down. Leave your mind open and be creative. Maybe even do this over a month or so. It could be a journal of sorts. Then see if there is something that comes out of that. You have already identified you want smomething feminine now it is just a matter of what. But think about values that are important to you, guiding principles, people and so forth. You can usually craft a tattoo around the thigns that are improtant in your life nand it will hold a lot of meaning and significance.

I am a big fan of tattoos. I have quite a few myself. Just keep in mind my three basic priniciples of getting a tattoo.1. Know what you want when you go in the shop. Never pick something off of the wall. You'll regret it. Don't rush into the decision just for the sake of having ink. The wait is worth it, especially when you get that epiphany of an idea that will make the perfect tattoo.2. Don't get a tattoo because it's the cool thing now. Tribals were cool and trendy. Not anymore. Amek sure it has meaning to you, not just because you want to match your friends.3. If you're working on a large piece that will require more than one session, make sure that you artist gets to a stopping point that you would be comfortable with for the rest of your life in the case that your artist dies before your next appointment.

Welcome and thanks for reading the hub here and visiting our site. You probably want to go with something pretty big, bold lines, and not too much intricate details and mostly in black linework. That pretty much leads to the more tribal route. The most popular tribal designs right now are Maori and Hawaiian. That gives you some leads at least.

Of course I always advice that if you are not really sure what you want it is better to take your time. Look a bunch and read a lot online and even visit a few tattoo shops or pick up a few mags at your local book seller. Then you will see a bunch and start to notice things you like.

Well, honestly you will probably not find anyone doing a custom tattoo design like that with your granddad within the cross without paying some money first. I am assuming you are just asking about the cross. Yes you could probably find a few free designs but typically the better route is to search google images. Find designs you like and copy or cut and paste them to a new sheet. Then talk with a professional tattoo artist and show your samples. That way you will end up with something that is unique and high quality. Best of luck.
